3 Free Ways Your Council Can Help Local Charities

volunteers helping charity

Charities need help now more than ever. They are experiencing a severe lack of income whilst juggling an increasing demand from service users.

Town and parish councils are in a unique position to help charities in their area. Many councils already work closely with various charities and voluntary organisations, and many councillors and clerks of local authorities are involved in charities – whether they are running a charity, sitting on the board of trustees or volunteering.

We are a charity insurance specialist

Our sister brand, BHIB Charities Insurance, specialises in providing affordable insurance services for charities of all sizes – including community groups, clubs, societies, voluntary organisations and hobby/interest groups.

Our support goes beyond products and policies. As a charity insurance specialist we regularly support our charity customers with free toolkits, guides and top tips as well as providing access to potential funding opportunities.

3 ways your council can help local charities today:

1) Apply for grants of up to £50,000 – now open!

The Aviva Community Fund is a quarterly funding competition which allows registered charities to apply for funding of up to £50,000 through their Crowdfunding platform.

These awards are open now and close on 13 OctoberYou can apply, or find out more information, by clicking here. Make sure you check out the terms and conditions and eligibility criteria before applying.

We have access to many funding opportunities throughout the year so please let us know of any charities or community groups who are in need of extra funding so we can ensure we get this information out to them.

2) Share FREE resources with your local charities and community groups

Throughout lockdown we have been working hard to produce detailed, tailored risk assessment templates for different types of charities to download for free – ensuring they can reopen and deliver their services safely.

Below you can find the link to each risk assessment template for charities:

  • Risk Assessment for Reopening Charity Buildings – click here to download
  • Risk Assessment for General Charity Reopening – click here to download
  • Risk Assessment for Reopening Community Centres – click here to download

If you would like us to send you, or a particular charity, an editable version of any of the above risk assessments, please email [email protected] and we will send this across.

3) Help charities save on expenses by using our insurance services

Getting the best value for money is key to charities now more than ever, so BHIB Charities Insurance are now offering a discount to all charities and voluntary organisations.

If you want to share this information with any of the charities, support groups or voluntary organisations you work with, then share this link with them and help them save money: https://bhibcharities.co.uk/get-10-off-your-charity-insurance-for-2020/
